Media types
Let's create a new media type. A media type can be configure by selecting 'Configure>Media Type'.
A new media type is configured in the same fashion as the platform was configured earlier. We have created a 'Floppy disk 5.25"'-media type. This can be used to create collection item entries for 'Apple II'-platform and for other platforms using 5.25"-disks (Commodore 64, Atari 400/800, ...). Only a media type with no relations to other data types can be deleted.
Next we will configure a media image container path. A media image container is a zip-archive containing 1...n media images. A media image path is a path to a directory in the local file system containing media image containers for a selected platform and media type combination. A media image path is used as a source for scanning media images and for uploading the media images to a RetroMenu-archive.
A RetroMenu-archive is a directory with subdirectories for each file type on a web server where all the files assigned to the RetroMenu will be uploaded over a HTTP-connection. Currently only a local web server has been tested for this purpose. Current RetroMenu-version is a single user implementation. The web archive solution is already available for the future RetroMenu v2.0 implementation, where a single RetroMenu database and an archive can be accessed by multiple users.
