Creating collection items from media images

After scanning a media image container directory the easiest way to start adding collection item entries to the RetroMenu-database is by selecting 'Title>Create titles from media images' from the main view.

After selecting a platform and a media type, a list of all the media image containers in the database for the selected combination will show up in the 'Media image containers'-list. By selecting a container, the contents of the container will be presented in the 'Files inside container'-list. Also the title name search field will be pre-filled for searching a title name object to be assigned with the collection item being created. If the desired title name object doesn't exist, it can be created by pressing the 'Add title name'-button.

A media image can be tested by selecting a media image container and an emulator and by pressing the 'Test'-button. This will boot up the emulator using the selected media image.

The 'Edit title names'-window will pop up with a 'Set title name'-field pre-filled with the name used as a search phrase earlier. Optional copyright owner and a copyright year can be also selected. A new copyright owner (such as a software company) can be added by pressing the 'Edit companies'-button.

A window appears for editing and adding companies to the database. A company can be selected as a copyright owner, a publisher, a developer and/or a distributor.

Also genres ('Set genres') and cross platform authors ('Set authors') can be assigned to a title name object using the title name editor. Multiple genres and authors can be assigned to each title name object.

After pressing the 'Set genres'-button a genre selector for the title name will show up. Genres can be created and edited (after selecting a genre from the list) by pressing the 'Add/edit'-button: the genre editor window ('Edit genres') will show up. Genres that have no associations to title name objects can be removed.

Cross platform authors can be selected by pressing the 'Set authors'-button. For each author a role must be selected. An single author can be assigned to a title name in multiple roles (e.g. as a designer, a programmer and a graphic artist). Authors and author roles can also be added and edited (the 'Edit authors' and 'Edit author roles' windows). Authors or author roles can be removed only if they have no bindings.

Here's an example with some authors assigned to a demo title name entry.

After a title name object and a media image container has been selected, a collection item object can be created by pressing the 'Create new'-button.

After a collection item has been created more media image containers can be assigned to it.
